Creating and Shaping the Eye

Modelling and shaping the eye was a very similar process to the nose and mouth. This process of modelling was done by moving vertex points and creating additional edges within the polygons that surround the eye. It was important that the shape of the eye matched as closely as possible to the reference images on the planes. I felt while modelling this section of the face that the eyes were the hardest to attempt to get right. However much I tried to ensure that the eyes were as accurate as possible they appeared to not look correct.

To ensure the eye looked as accurate as possible it was modelled to have eye lids. During this process it was easier to create dummy eyeballs quickly using spheres. This assisted the process of creating the eye lids and gave me guidance in shaping the surroundings of the eye. The symerty modifier gave excellent guidance in this process as it assisted in ensuring that the eye and surround areas were the correct distance from the nose and the side of the head.

After numerous attempts the eyes were finally created and modelled to a satisfactory standard. However, at this point in the modelling process it was decided that the eyeballs themselves would be created later in the modelling process to enable development on any other alterations to the face that maybe necessary at this moment in time.
