Nose building

The next stage of the modelling process was to begin building the nose. The nose itself was in shape but didn’t look anything like my nose. It required some detailed construction and adjustments to ensure it look accurate to the reference image. This was a very time consuming process and was also extremely difficult. Throughout the process it was easier to refer to a hard copy of the images itself.

After I was satisfied with the overall structure of the nose it was time to begin the development of the nostrils. This was done by creating extra polygons on the edges of the entrances to the nostrils by highlighting the polygons and using the ‘connect’ tool. This allows the selected polygons to split into half to allow for finer modifications. By selecting the newly created polygons on the edge of the entrance to the nostrils and using the extrude tool with a negative value the nostrils could now be pulled up into the nose cavity as seen in the image below.

Extra adjustments were necessary after this point to ensure the nostril cavities and entrance looked smooth and very accurate with realistic edges. the image below shows a close up of the end result of the final adjustments.
